Fall 2017 Baseball and Softball Registration is Open

Baseball and Softball Fall registration is open through the month of August for players as young as 6 and as old as 13.  Irmo Little League does not offer Tee Ball / Junior Coach Pitch in the Fall.

Fall Season is a developmental season providing players an opportunity play to the age group/division they would commonly play next Spring.

You can register online through the Irmo Little League website (www.IrmoLittleLeague.org).

Prior to registering, please take a few minutes to review our age, division, and other registration details through the league website (under the 'Play Ball' section) for a background of the age groups and divisions. If you have any questions, please e-mail [email protected].

Common Highlights and a few new things for Fall 2017:

  • Registration. Registration is open online throughout August.
  • Practices. Team practices will be held the first couple of weeks of September.
  • Games. Games will be played Monday-Thursday (expect 2 games per week) beginning the middle of September through the end of October.
  • Divisions. Divisions offered for Fall: (league ages are based on Spring 2018 ages)
    • Machine Pitch (Baseball) / Coach Pitch (Softball) - League Ages 7 and 8
    • Minors - League Ages 9 and 10
    • Majors - League Ages 11 and 12
    • Juniors (Baseball) - League Ages 13 and 14.  Depending on participant strength and skill levels, Juniors Division may utilize a combination of a 54/80 or a 60/90 field, and adapt through the season to allow players to experience the larger fields as they prepare for school-level ball.

During the registration process, parents may request that a player be placed out of their age group, which could provide for example, a Minors-aged player to Majors, or vice versa.  Exceptions will be based on reasonable justification and availability of roster spots in any given division.

Divisions in the Spring provide more overlap of ages and contains an evaluation/draft process as opposed to the Fall process of placing players in divisions and on teams.  A player's division in the Fall does not necessarily indicate the player playing or being drafted to the same division next Spring.

  • IMPORTANT * USABat Standard coming in 2018.  Little League is changing Baseball bat standards starting January 1, 2018.

If you are considering purchasing a new bat for Little League play this Fall, please be aware that most Baseball bats that are currently being sold in stores, while they may be usable this Fall, will not be permitted for use in Little League play next Spring.

Beginning January 1, 2018, all Baseball bats must contain a USABat stamping.  (Some wood bats are exempt from the marking).

Bat manufacturers are not expected to begin releasing the new USABats until around September 1, and most are not expected to release models until later in the year.

For this Fall 2017 season, current bats as well as the new USABats will be permitted for use.

Refer to Bat Information at Little League.org  for more information concerning Little League bat standards.
  • Umpires and Junior Umpire Program. Fall is the perfect time to practice something new, and for most fans umpiring would be something new.  As you register players, please indicate in the volunteer section if you and/or a teenage family member may be interested in umpiring. Scheduling can be accommodated from 1 game/week to more often as desired. Umpiring can be applied to community service for school as well as being a great opportunity for both adults and youth to inspire our players to stay involved in the sports of Baseball and Softball as they grow up.
